Gypsy in Amber

Gypsy in Amber (1971) was Martin Cruz Smith's second published book and first mystery novel. Its protagonist is Romano Grey, a gypsy antique expert who is pulled into a murder investigation when one of his friends dies in an automobile accident and is suspected of the murder of a girl whose body is found at the scene of the accident sliced up into six pieces. Grey reappears in Canto for a Gypsy, published in 1972.
